Billion highlights "Security, Broadband, Mobility, Convergence, and Home Networking" at Computex 2008

showcasing the world's first 802.11n Gigabit SSL VPN security gateway and 802.11n 3G/ADSL2+ VPN router while unveiling the HomePlug AV 200 Pass-Through Ethernet Bridge

Billion Electric Co., Ltd. To address the need for better security solutions, Billion is launching its enterprise-class BiGuard SSL VPN Gigabit SME appliance series – BiGuard S6000 and BiGuard S3000 (Gigabit Dual-WAN SSL/IPSec VPN Security Gateway). The world’s first SSL VPN gateway with an integrated wireless 802.11n Access Point – the BiGuard S10N, offers SMBs Wireless Portal Access Control for authorizing users with different security clearances - will be highlighted with its market release set for the fall of 2008. Billion will also introduce its brand-new BiPAC 7402NX (802.11n 3G/ADSL2+ VPN Firewall Router) with an integrated USB port for connecting a 3G/HSDPA USB modem which serves as an automatic fail-over for backup when an ADSL2+ connection breaks down. For “Home Networking”, Billion will showcase a full range of new products. The BiPAC 2072 (HomePlug AV 200 Pass-Through Adapter), a 200Mbps Ethernet-over-power bridge plus an electrical outlet along with noise filtering, delivers the super-fast connectivity needed for High Definition home networks, enabling users to easily set up a data network using in-home power lines to simultaneously share bandwidth-consuming applications such as IPTV with family throughout the house. The latest BiPAC 7800N (802.11n Dual-WAN ADSL2+/Broadband Firewall Router) will also be put on show. This router enables users to experience the ultimate in wireless speed and coverage with no more dead zones. It also offers alternative broadband access for connecting to a cable or fiber modem through its Ethernet WAN port.

Aimed at SMEs with 150 to 1,000 employees, Billion continues to offer advanced enterprise-class appliance series, such as the BiGuard SSL VPN Giga SME Appliance Series – BiGuard S6000 and BiGuard S3000. Imbedded with high-performance CPUs, these devices feature powerful Gigabit capability for LAN, WAN and DMZ ports, enabling faster transmission speeds for efficient corporate resource-sharing and Internet connectivity. The BiGuard S6000 supports up to 200 SSL VPN tunnels while the BiGuard S3000 offers up to 50 SSL VPN tunnels. Both the BiGuard S6000 and BiGuard S3000 offer IPSec VPN capabilities. The Dual-WAN port design delivers Load Balancing and Auto Fail-over to ensure optimal bandwidth sharing with multiple PCs in your office, or provide network redundancy in case one connection should fail. This series features AD/LDAP Account Import, enabling IT administrators to manage intranets by importing existing accounts from AD/LDAP servers into a BiGuard SSL VPN device. The Group Account Setting makes it easy for IT administrators to set up and differentiate user groups to control access to specific applications. If an IT administrator needs to set up many "sales" users in a single group who need to retrieve price information and other files through the intranet while traveling, administrators can easily group them and configure authorized applications for that group. The Group Account Setting feature reduces the time and work involved in setting up various access authorizations for different kinds of users with a simple one-time setup. The Endpoint Security (EPS) checking function enables IT administrators to check the identity of a remote PC and its security policy settings when a user attempts to log in from that device. This feature can prevent unauthorized users from gaining access (to sensitive company data).

At the same time, Billion will unveil the world’s first SSL VPN gateway with integrated the draft 802.11n wireless standard – BiGuard S10N (802.11n Gigabit SSL/IPSec VPN Security Gateway) for the SMB market. It offers up to 20 SSL VPN, as well as 10 IPSec VPN tunnels. IT administrators can utilize its Wireless Portal Access Control to authorize different users such as guests, visitors or employees to access the Internet or company resources from a wireless connection. The device also features Gigabit WAN and LAN connectivity enabling faster data transmission for running bandwidth consuming applications like video streaming and critical business applications.

In response to the popularity of 3G modems with a USB interface and the latest wireless standard – draft 802.11n, Billion is strategically offering users a dual interface for an ADSL2+ or a 3G/HSDPA USB modem; the BiPAC 7402NX (802.11n 3G/ADSL2+ VPN Firewall Router) is a perfect example of the next generation of communications for SOHO or office users. With an integrated 802.11n Wireless Access Point, the router delivers up to 300Mbps, a speed 6 times faster speed and a wireless range 3 times bigger than an 802.11b/g network. The 3 built-in antennas can effectively search for wireless signals and make the required adjustment to achieve an optimal connection when an obstacle is found. The BiPAC 7402NX incorporates an auto fail-over feature, ensuring a stable Internet connection. If an ADSL line fails, the router will connect via 3G to deliver uninterrupted connectivity. The BiPAC 7402NX also supports embedded IPSec VPN (Virtual Private Network) protocols, allowing users to establish encrypted private connections of up to 16 VPN tunnels over the Internet. In addition, the router is also equipped with a built-in 4-port Gigabit Switch, enabling amazingly fast LAN transmissions for bandwidth-consuming applications such as video streaming and file sharing. By using the BiPAC 7402NX, users can create their own portable hotspot for Wi-Fi access wherever a 3G connection is available - in a meeting or at a trade fair.

Compliant with the latest HomePlug AV standards supporting data speeds of up to 200Mbps, the BiPAC 2072 (HomePlug AV 200 Pass-Through Adapter) can be used to bridge Ethernet devices such as modems, routers, PCs, set-top-boxes, and game consoles, allowing users to share network access via existing in-home power cabling. The Pass-Through along with noise filtering can increase power line communications coverage in residential applications. Just plug the BiPAC 2072 into any power outlet, and data signals can be transmitted through the power lines. With just one touch on the Network Set-up button, you can install the bridge utility and your high-speed network is ready. The BiPAC 2072 automatically recognizes the bandwidth needs of voice and video applications and guarantees the transmission quality by automatically prioritizing data with Quality of Service (QoS) control. The device delivers superior and noise-immune (noise isolation) data transmission over in-home power lines through which electricity is carried all around your house. You won’t hear any annoying sounds generated by transmission to bandwidth-consuming applications like IPTV. Turning on or off electrical devices or lights will not effect the quality of latency-sensitive applications such as multimedia or video that you are sharing with your family in the other room – no sudden breakdowns, no momentary freezes, not even for one second.

Billion will also launch its brand new – BiPAC 7800N (802.11n Dual-WAN ADSL2+/Broadband Firewall Router) targeted for office users. This device is compliant with the latest wireless 802.11n standard surpassing even 802.11g standards with faster wireless speeds and better wireless coverage. The Wireless Protected Access (WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK) and Wireless Encryption Protocol (WEP) features enhance the level of transmission security and access control over a Wireless LAN. The router also supports the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) standard, allowing users to establish a secure wireless network by simply pressing a button. It uniquely features a second Ethernet WAN port, which provides alternative broadband access for connecting to an ADSL modem, VDSL, cable or fiber modem. The router is also equipped with a built-in 4-port Gigabit Switch, enabling amazingly fast LAN transmissions for bandwidth-consuming applications such as IPTV and file sharing.

The BiGuard S3000 and BiPAC 7402NX will be available in July, and Billion plans to roll out the BiGuard S10N, BiPAC 2072 and BiPAC 7800N in the third quarter of 2008.
